Apple UK has launched a festive competition inviting iPad owners to design digital Christmas trees, with the top entries to be projected onto the iconic towers of its Battersea headquarters in London. This initiative follows a series of high-profile holiday light displays at Battersea Power Station: in 2023, renowned artist David Hockney illuminated the towers with his iPad Pro-crafted “Bigger Christmas Trees,” while in 2024, an animated display featuring Wallace and Gromit—created by Aardman using the iPhone 16 Pro Max—took center stage.
This year, Apple is turning to the creative talents of everyday UK residents. Led by British comedian Munya Chawawa, the campaign encourages iPad users to submit original tree designs. A panel, including Chawawa as well as celebrated guest judges—such as Sir Stephen Fry and Turner Prize-nominated artist David Shrigley, OBE—will select 24 winning entries for projection alongside celebrity artworks, transforming the Battersea towers into a vibrant beacon of community creativity during the holiday season.
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, highlighted the campaign’s emphasis on creative empowerment: “Using the power and versatility of our most capable iPad lineup yet, we’re excited to bring Christmas cheer to Battersea Power Station and inspire festive creativity across the nation. It’s inspiring to see such remarkable talent across multiple mediums — all brought together alongside Munya Chawawa. We can’t wait to experience these creations next to the incredible contributions from the public.”
The competition is now open to all UK-based iPad users. Entries must be submitted by one minute to midnight on November 23, 2025. To help participants, Apple’s UK retail stores are hosting “Today at Apple” workshops from November 6 through November 22, with additional sessions continuing until December 22. These workshops offer hands-on creative guidance with iPad and Apple Pencil, ensuring everyone can participate and refine their digital artwork throughout the festive period.
Entrants are required to download a special template as the starting point for their tree designs. The campaign not only celebrates individual creativity but also marks Apple’s continued engagement with London’s Battersea Power Station—a landmark that became Apple’s UK headquarters and home to a flagship Apple Store in 2023.
For those eager to see their art high above London, this holiday event offers a unique chance to become part of a new festive tradition and light up the city skyline.
