EA and the Battlefield development teams are making it easier than ever for players to manage their hard drive space: after finishing the Battlefield 6 campaign, you can freely uninstall its story mode—directly from within the game.
Campaign Completion Comes With a Space-Saving Option
Since its October 10 launch, Battlefield 6 has seen players flock to its extensive multiplayer maps and modes, while many others jumped right into the game’s brand-new campaign. This tightly-paced solo experience spans nine missions and lasts about five hours. Some players—like well-known leaker BobNetworkUK—blasted through the campaign quickly enough to encounter a new feature: a pop-up offering to uninstall the single-player content once you’re done.
The official recommendation encourages completionists to pursue campaign-specific challenges for unique unlocks before utilizing a prominently placed uninstall button. This lets you fully remove the campaign component in just a few steps, freeing up precious storage.
Why Remove the Campaign?
After Battlefield 2042 skipped story mode, Battlefield 6 marks the franchise’s return to a campaign for the first time since 2018’s Battlefield V. The new story mode, however, has split the community: some fans feel it recaptures the series’ signature chaos, while others find it forgettable due to its short runtime.
IGN’s review scored the campaign a 5/10, calling it a “safe, dull reimagining of what Battlefield once was, rather than a bold reinvention.” Like many, they ultimately found more excitement inthe multiplayer action.
By uninstalling the campaign, players can reclaim around 15GB of storage—or more if they also delete associated HD texture packs. That leaves the core multiplayer experience at a manageable 55GB, ideal for players who prefer all-out warfare over solo missions.
A Record-Setting Launch
Battlefield 6 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game quickly became the series’ biggest launch on Steam, hitting over 740,000 concurrent players (per SteamDB). While millions are testing both campaign and multiplayer, the community is also making headlines—some fans have even recreated the iconic Shipment map from Call of Duty within Battlefield 6’s flexible Portal mode.
Whether you’re gunning for story completion, multiplayer mayhem, or custom maps, Battlefield 6 now helps you control what stays on your drive—making it easier to focus on the features you love.
