Apple has announced a series of updates aimed at reshaping how developers interact with the App Store and distribute their apps. The company says these changes are part of its ongoing effort to empower developers and expand opportunities within its marketplace. The timing of this update is notable, as Apple continues to adapt to new regulations requiring support for third-party app marketplaces and payment systems in certain regions.
Goodbye Promo Codes, Hello Offer Codes
One of the most significant updates is Apple’s decision to retire promo codes for In‑App Purchases. Beginning March 26, 2026, developers will no longer be able to generate promo codes for these purchases through App Store Connect. Existing codes will remain valid until they expire, and developers can still issue promo codes for full app downloads.
Replacing them is a new offer code system, which provides broader functionality. These codes will be compatible with all In‑App Purchase types — consumable, non‑consumable, non‑renewing subscriptions, and now, auto‑renewable subscriptions as well. According to Apple, offer codes allow developers to present users with limited‑time free or discounted offers, helping increase engagement and drive sales within apps and games.
Faster App Reviews and More Flexibility

Apple is also streamlining the App Review process. Developers can now submit specific items independently, even while another review is in progress. This includes submitting:
- One or more In‑App Events
- A new app version to fix a critical bug
- Game Center features
This change should speed up critical updates and improve communication and responsiveness between developers, Apple, and end users.
Enhanced Custom Product Pages
Another welcome addition is the expansion of custom product pages. Developers will be able to create up to 70 variations of their App Store product page, each with unique screenshots, app previews, and promotional text. These pages can highlight different aspects or features of an app, improving discoverability and helping developers target specific audiences through tailored keywords and visuals.
Apple has published detailed documentation about these features on its developer website, inviting creators to explore the new tools and optimize how their apps are presented to the world.
