We’ve observed numerous improvements to the Google Gemini app in recent months. Recently, the app has seen significant enhancements in video generation, alongside upgrades to Gemini Live interactions following a recent update. Now, the Gemini app is rolling out a visual refresh that introduces a variety of new color tones and additional interface elements.
According to 9to5Google, the latest update to the Google app brings bolder color schemes for both dark and light modes. In comparison screenshots, the homepage’s black background is noticeably deeper in the updated version, while the light theme displays a softer, grayer tone.
The homepage now incorporates stronger colors in most elements, though the prompt box and chatbot conversations maintain the older color palette. This update is currently live on Google app version 16.45.62, confirmed on a Pixel device and reported by 9to5Google.
Introducing ‘My Stuff’
A notable new feature is the “My Stuff” section accessible via the navigation drawer. This conveniently displays a preview of the last three Canvas, image, or video creations directly in the drawer. Opening “My Stuff” leads users to a comprehensive repository of all generated media, streamlining access.
The homepage also sports a fresh prompt, “Where should we start?” paired with the Hi/Hello greeting. The “Gemini” text atop the homepage has been slightly enlarged, and the greeting’s font color has shifted from blue to black or white—a change that may divide opinions.
The design overhaul further rearranges the suggestion chips (Create image, Write, Build, Deep Research, and Create video) into a vertical stack. The Write and Build chips have been renamed to “Write anything” and “Build an idea,” better utilizing available space.
Conversation Screen Updates
On the conversation screen, the previous account switcher in the top right corner has been replaced by a dedicated button for starting new chats. Tapping the conversation name now reveals a bottom-of-screen dropdown with options like sharing, pinning, renaming, or deleting conversations, improving usability.
These design updates enhance the Gemini app’s functionality and look, although the uneven homepage styling may not appeal to all users.
