EA and Battlefield Studios have officially unveiled the long-rumored battle royale mode for Battlefield 6, confirming its name as Battlefield REDSEC. As leaks suggested, the mode will launch tomorrow and will be completely free-to-play.
The announcement came via the official Battlefield account on X (formerly Twitter), teasing the reveal with a short post and confirming that a full gameplay trailer will premiere tomorrow alongside the mode’s launch.
Fans won’t have to wait long for more details, with an official blog post expected to follow the trailer’s debut. However, some early information has already surfaced thanks to ModernWarzone — the same account that accurately leaked the REDSEC title and tomorrow’s shadow-drop release.
According to these reports, Battlefield REDSEC will feature both Duos and Squads playlists, allowing players to team up in groups of two or four. Each match will support up to 100 players, keeping the classic large-scale Battlefield chaos intact.
REDSEC will launch alongside Season 1 of Battlefield 6, which introduces two new Conquest maps — Blackwell Ridge and Eastwood. Early impressions suggest the battle royale’s first map will be set in Southern California, offering players a glimpse of what could become one of the standout environments in the game: Eastwood.
Positioned as EA’s direct response to Call of Duty: Warzone, REDSEC’s timing couldn’t be better. With the Call of Duty franchise currently navigating an identity crisis, EA seems poised to capture the attention of FPS fans eager for something fresh. Releasing more than a month before Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Battlefield 6 has a prime opportunity to pull in players who might otherwise be waiting for Activision’s next big release.
Of course, some players may still return to Black Ops 7 once it launches in November, but for now, EA has a golden chance to showcase what Battlefield can truly offer. All eyes will be on Battlefield REDSEC when it drops tomorrow to see if it can live up to the hype.
